Magnificent river, mountain and forest scenery surrounds this north coast timber town 40 kilometres west of Coffs Harbour. The landscape is revealed on the climb up the Bellingen-Dorrigo road, a marvel in engineering now known as the Waterfall Way. Just north at beautiful Dangar Falls there is a short walk through the bush to the cascades. The last remnant of the region's original vegetation is now protected as Dorrigo National Park, a World Heritage rainforest park located a few kilometres south-east. The focal point is the Rainforest Centre which includes a shop, exhibition and cafe. A close-up view of the rainforest canopy can be experienced from the Skywalk, a dramatic tree-top walk and lookout platform hanging over the edge of the escarpment.
