The twin towns of Forster and Tuncurry lie at the entrance to beautiful Wallis Lake, on either side of the Wallamba River. Tourism and fishing are the main industries in this busy area which is part of the Great Lakes holiday region. A comfortable four-hour drive from Sydney, the area has long been popular for family holidays and is renowned for its clear, clean beaches and waterways and for its seafood.
An overall view of Forster-Tuncurry is seen from the Scenic Platform at Bennetts Head, accessed by driving to the end of Bennetts Head Road. A walking track leads from Bicentennial Park and passes The Tanks, an unusual rock formation where the waves spray water into a safe swimming area.
