The village of Alstonville is an interesting town with historic building, antique shops, intimate cafes and tea-houses and one of the best galleries on the north coast. Surrounded by picturesque evergreen rolling hills, the deep red basaltic soil grows a diverse range of fruit and nut crops, including macadamias and avocados. Among the hills are secluded waterfalls, beautiful gardens and at Victoria Park Nature Reserve, visitors may see one of the last remaining parts of the famous 'Big Scrub', the old growth forest that once covered the area.
