Water activities are the main drawcard at this coastal New South Wales town, located nine kilometres off the Princes Highway. Bermagui has been famous for its big game fishing since the 1930's when author Zane Grey popularised the sport. Today, charter boats take big game and deep sea fishermen out in pursuit of black marlin and yellow fin tuna. Diving boat charters also operate, and shore diving is a well-rewarded pastime. Surfers have several beaches to choose from, including Beares and Moorehead.
