Places worth seeing around the area include Cape Byron, a rocky promontory 107m high and the most easterly point in Australia. Part of Cape Byron State Conservation Area, visitors can take walking trails and explore the headland, or visit Cape Byron Lighthouse. Arakwal National Park is situated right next door. For water sport enthusiasts, Julian Rocks, clearly visible off Main Beach, is a very popular scuba diving spot, and north-facing Wategos Beach is considered to be one of the best surfing beaches in the State.
