Although new and exciting industries such as olives, coffee and ti-tree are being established in the Richmond Valley, Casino remains primarily a beef-cattle town with a festival in May which draws people from all over Australia to showcase Casino's beef heritage. It is a typical Australian country town with wide streets and verandahed pubs. Casino is a town of parks, and many of them provide attractive open space along the riverbanks where wildlife congregates. Jabiru Geneebeinga Wetlands, next to the golf course in North Casino, is a natural swamp with an abundance of birdlife that includes black swans, ducks and egrets as well as jabiru.
