Coonabarabran is an attractive country town, best known for its proximity to the Warrumbungles National Park. Located some 36 kilometres from town, the Warrumbungles are one of the state's most popular parks, with beautiful walks and interesting rock formations such as the Breadknife and Belougery Spire. Coonabarabran also claims to be the Astronomy Capital of Australia, with two observatories within easy reach of town from which to view the vast night - and day - skies.
