A rich wheat-growing district surrounds the New South Wales town of Corowa on the northern bank of the Murray River. On the other side of the river is the Victorian township of Wahgunyah, joined to Corowa by the John Foord bridge. Heritage buildings with iron-lace balconies, built in the heyday of the river trade, line Corowa's Sanger Street and give the town its character. It was in Corowa in 1893 that the decision was made to draw up a constitution for the new nation. The Corowa Federation Museum focuses on the full history of the Federation movement.
