Located at the centre of the Upper Hunter Wine Region, Denman is a small rural town that services the surrounding agricultural area. Originally named Merton, Denman is situated on the banks of the meandering Hunter River, which meets the Goulburn River two kilometres south-east of town.
Wineries are the main attractions in Denman, and include Rosemount Estate, which dates back to 1864. Olives are also on the menu at Pukara Estate Olives, and once a year visitors can taste all the region has to offer at the Wine and Food Affair, held annually in May. However, lovers of nature do not miss out, as Denman also makes an ideal base from which to explore Goulburn River and Wollemi National Parks.
