The 'Gateway to the Rainforest', Kyogle is on the Summerland Way, at the foot of Fairymount, overlooking the Richmond Valley with the magnificent scenery of the tall McPherson, Tweed and Richmond mountain ranges to the north, east and west. Kyogle is a gateway to the rainforest scenery of Border Ranges National Park lying approximately 30 kilometres north, which offers spectacular views, pristine rainforest, sparkling creeks and waterfalls plunging into deep gorges.
Within Kyogle, good views of the district can be seen from the Captain Cook Memorial Lookout on Fairymount (access is off Mount Street). A walking trail from the Lookout leads to the trig station on top of the hill. At the northern end of town, existing rainforest has been enhanced and developed to create the beautiful Rainforest Botanic Gardens, alongside Fawcetts Creek.
