Cradled between the gentle hills that form the western reaches of the Great Dividing Range, Mudgee is a picturesque country town with a charm provided by many fine old homes, public buildings and churches.
The Mudgee region is known for its excellent wine and honey. Grapes grown in the high red soils have produced distinctive quality wines for over 140 years and the many wineries welcome visitors to their cellar doors for tastings and sales. Information on over 40 cellar doors, as well as honey, olives, venison and cheese are available from the visitor centre.
