The gateway to Jenolan Caves and Kanagra-Boyd National Park, Oberon is the place to fish the local rivers, creeks and dams, fossick for gold and gemstone, or play in the winter snow. During the Daffodil Festival, gardens are open to the public, allowing time for a relaxing stroll.
Visitors may take in some history in the main street, and the museum, located at the old Oberon railway station, is a must. Situated on nearly two acres, the museum includes an authentic pioneer's hut fully furnished as well as a blacksmith with a working forge. Outside of Oberon, the circle of interesting local villages such as Black Springs, O'Connell, Tarana, Rockley and Yerranderie are well worth exploring.
