Renowned as the nation's Country Music Capital, Tamworth has hosted the Country Music Awards for more than thirty years. Thousands of fans flock to the city for the ten day festival which is held in January. Tamworth is also the commercial centre for the prosperous farming area of the Peel Valley. The city celebrated its centenary in 1976, and as well as country music has museums and galleries. As the 'capital city' of the New England North West region, Tamworth is a progressive and growing city with much to offer.
