The New South Wales town of Tweed Heads sits on the State border adjacent to Coolangatta in Queensland. Labelled the 'Twin Towns', they form a family holiday resort at the southern boundary of the popular Gold Coast tourist strip. Although they are so close to each other, the atmosphere in each town is quite different. Coolangatta turns its high-rise face towards the Pacific and the ocean swells that bunch up around Point Danger. Building heights are restricted in Tweed Heads, which hugs the coiling banks of Terranora Creek and the Tweed River.
The area is an ideal holiday base with accommodation to suit every pocket and ready access to beautiful beaches, stunning inland scenery and the towns and villages of the hinterland.
