Lying on the banks of the majestic Murrumbidgee River, Wagga Wagga is the largest inland city in New South Wales. Wagga's growth as a regional centre was assured by its position at the crossroads of the Olympic and Sturt Highways, almost halfway between Sydney and Melbourne. Wagga Wagga has many attractions of interest to visitors. The Regional Art Gallery displays local artworks and holds travelling exhibitions of paintings, ceramics and crafts. The National Art Glass collection located in Morrow Street is behind the Civic Centre. In the great outdoors, an extensive and diverse range of native flora dominates the nine-hectare Botanical Gardens and Zoo on Willans Hill.
