The administrative, commercial, cultural and industrial centre for the South Coast, Wollongong is the third largest city in New South Wales. It is the centre of an urban/industrial area that includes Port Kembla, where a major proportion of the country's iron and steel is made. Despite being an industrial city Wollongong has many attractions, surrounded as it is by the Pacific Ocean on one side and a stunning plateau hinterland protected by national parks on the other.
