Map of Eudunda, SA 5374

Lying off the main road‚ in the rich farming area of the Lower Mid-North‚ the township is a self-sufficient community with its own hospital‚ two schools‚ shopping precinct and sporting facilities.

The town evolved from a watering stop for stock brought overland via Morgan from Queensland and New South Wales en route to markets in Adelaide and later in Kapunda. The fresh water springs that attracted the drovers were call eudundacowi by the then resident aboriginals‚ meaning 'water from the ground'.

Eudunda was the home of late Australian writer Colin Thiele‚ author of the children's classic 'Storm Boy'. A statue celebrating his life is located in Centenary Gardens‚ and along the same literary theme‚ each October Eudunda hosts the Storytelling Festival.
