Bridport is a delightful spot for a short break holiday. Its safe sandy beaches lined with barbecue and picnic areas are well known, and facilities for water sports, golf and tennis are good. It lies at the mouth of the Great Forester River, facing beautiful Anderson Bay, named after Janet and Andrew Anderson, who were granted the first allocation of land in the district in 1833.
A pleasant three-hour round-trip walk begins near the golf course turn off in Main Street. It heads north to Adams Beach and the Bridport Wildflower Reserve, a 50 hectare natural reserve of heath and woodlands, which is particularly beautiful in spring. The walk then returns via the Foreshore Walking Track from Old Pier Beach to the Brid River Bridge.
