The pretty town of Wynyard is the centre of a prosperous farming district set in a landscape said to resemble the English countryside. It is situated at the mouth of the Inglis River, close to the picturesque headland called Table Cape, the area's major scenic attraction. From Wynyard, the drive to the Cape passes a patchwork of fields that produce colourful crops of vegetables, poppies and tulips. (Wynyard is known as the 'Tulip Town', and is home to the Bloomin' Tulips! Festival each October). An historic lighthouse marks the tip of the Cape and the stunning view from the lookout takes in hundreds of kilometres of beautiful coastline.
Officially opened in late 2005, the Wonders of Wynyard Exhibition Centre is the main attraction in town. Home to Australia's largest collection of locally restored veteran Ford vehicles, it also contains gallery space exhibiting local creative work, as well as the Wynyard Visitor Information Centre.
