Anglesea is a popular coastal resort and artists' colony at the start of the Great Ocean Road. Tourism is the principal industry in the town and for generations Melburnians have retreated to the relaxed atmosphere of Anglesea to fish, swim, walk and escape the stress of city living. Anglesea has protected waters perfect for families near Split Point as well as some of the best surfing beaches in Victoria. Up the hill from the Great Ocean Road, kangaroos laze around the bushland and fairways of the Anglesea Golf Course, and may be seen from Golf Links Road. Coogoorah Park, on the river, has walking tracks and boardwalks from which to explore the wetlands.
