Capel is a widespread community on the Bussell Highway, midway between Bunbury and Busselton. Although the region is predominantly agricultural, the local economy has been boosted in recent years by the mining of mineral sands.
Whilst in town, the Capelite is a good place to start for information, and wine buffs will enjoy the Capel Vale Winery. Located just off the Bussell Highway, Capel Vale's cellar door is open seven days a week. On the highway to the south walking tracks and picnic spots can be found in Tuart Forest National Park, the last remaining naturally occurring tuart forest in the world. Ironstone Gully Falls, off Goodwood Road, is another local picnic and barbecue area.
