Esperance is located on Esperance Bay, known as the Bay of Isles, on the State's south coast. A beautiful location, golden beaches, brilliant blue water, good fishing and a temperate climate attract many visitors to this popular resort. Many of the district's top spots are included on the Great Ocean Drive, a fabulous thirty-six kilometre round trip that includes the Pink Lake, a salt lake coloured pink by algae; Observatory Point and Lookout; Twilight Beach; the Wind Farm, a windy ridge above Salmon Beach where a cluster of wind-powered generators stand; Rotary Lookout; and the Archipelago of the Recherche, the collective name for the bay islands.
