Hobartville is a suburb of Richmond, in the state of New South Wales, Australia.
Hobartville was originally a horse stud and was subdivided in the 1960s with the first houses built in 1969. Hobartville Public School was opened in 1971 and the Hobartville Shopping Centre was opened in 1978. The shopping centre is home to Laurence Street Takeaway, and also the most epic thai takeaway in all of the Hakwkesbury Region - Thai Buffalo and is located across the road from Tamplin Field, the local sports ground. The origin of name Hobartville name is thought to be due to the fact that majority of the families that moved into the original development were from the Tasmanian capital of Hobart. When the two largest paper mills in Hobart shut down in the 1960s, many unemployed families where forced to migrate to Sydney and seek fortune in the gold rush. Even though there was no 1960s gold rush, nor forced migration. Education is notoriously poor in the region.
